FWT #5 Fieberbrunn/ AUT

FWT Fieberbrunn - what a great event!! The Freeride World Tour is growing each year, but the contest in Austria is outstanding! The local organizers put all their efforts to make the best they can - so it is!



The contest venue is great, steep in the upper section and more playfull further down. Spectators just have to take the gondola to the very top and from the event village you have a perfect view on the "Wildseeloder" north face. About 3000 people came over there, even more for the prizegiving later at the valley station of the gondola.

Luckily it snowed the day before face check, so we got excellent conditions. Pretty much everybody could show a good run, I`m also quite happy about my line. I went for the lookers right side with a solid drop in the steep section and some more airtime in the rest of my run. All clean and fast, but ended up 7th place. I also judged competitions and know, it`s not an easy job sometimes. After a good beginning this season and not so good results in the last two events I`m in 6th place Overall, meaning qualified for Verbier Xtreme and already for next years FWT!! The big goal now is to make it to the podium in Verbier!!

Today we were filming for our project "Time for the whiteroom" and got some nice runs! There is still a lot to do, if enough motivation for hiking - and YES, we are motivated!!

FWT #4 Roldal - VIDEO

Sometimes it`s not easy organizing an Event like the Freeride World Tour... conditions can be difficult. See what riders are doing the day before and on contest day!!

FWT #4 Roldal(NOR)

After some weeks riding pretty much powder lines all days at home, the 4th stopp of the FWT was held in Roldal, Norway. A nice village situated in a wunderfull landscape with a small ski resort. With hiking and traversing you can reach good stuff, not as long as in the alps.

It was snowing a lot before we came here, we expected powder... The day we arrived it started to rain, followed by fresh snow the next day. Lots of wind made the conditions difficult for us riders and of course also for organizers.

All in all we had inspection on 3 different faces. The reason: face option 1 and 2 are just too icy and therefore too dangerous...

Sure it is not easy to switch from one line to another within short time, but finally we all had our line in mind. Snow turned out to be soft with some crusty parts hidden in the face. When I was about to start I felt ok, but little stressed because of the tuff program we had. Not sure what was the reason I crash after my first drop. Everything went super fast. I tried to charge hard, the goal was to make it on the podium again. Anyway - part of the game. As there is one result which doesn`t count for the overall ranking, I`m still on 5th place close to Emilien, who takes 3rd overall at the moment. Congrats to my buddies Chris(3.) and Flo(1.) !!! YeaHH!!
