FWT Chamonix and a nice Steep

Congrats to Xav, Aurelien and Douds!

Contest is over, got 8th place. I could not ride my line as fast as I use to ride, but anyway I`m happy about the competition. Due to my injury I had in April last year(compression fracture 10/12 vertebral body) I still have to be very careful. That`s why I had to choose a line without big drops, but still a nice line including 3 smaller cliffs. Of course it`s difficult to compete against the world best freeriders and not feeling a 100% fit. No matter, I`m super happy to have the chance to take part in the FWT events and I feel better every day, but it`s a lot of work to stay in shape with this handicap... Was lot of fun in Chamonix!

The heli flight up to the contest face next to Courmayeurs ski resort was just awesome!! Mont Blanc to the right, contest face to the left... The pilot droped us next to the start gate and disappeared behind the mountain to pick up the next riders.

2 days after competition - first we had to party in Chamonix, followed by a resting day - Stefan Häusl and me hiked one of the STEEP COULOIRS in the Argentiere basin, called "Les Courtes" 3856m, 48°

It was a very cold day (-20°C) and conditons were not easy at all (hard/compact snow), but I`m stoked that I could realize to climb and ride one more of the thousands couloirs which are next to Chamonix!! Yeahhhh!!

Competition is ON tomorrow in Courmayeur because conditions here in Chamonix are not too good. No problem for us riders, meaning we are going for a new face for everybody! I checked out a nice line, I feel really good with my choice, hopefully I can ride it as good as planed. Snow conditions in the face are not that easy. I expect hard and compact snow in some parts, but all in all should be ok! Stoked to start first of the snowboarders, FWT 2011 starts NOW!!

FWT "preparation" and FWQ Open Hochfügen

Friday we had some nice runs with good snow up on the glacier. Lot of fun shredding with Nino and Mitch. Perfect "test runs" for the Freeride World Tour and its first stop in Chamonix next week. I feel pretty good!! Check out the teaser!

Sunday weather cleared up in the morning and even if the snow conditions in Hochfügen were not the best, it was a perfect organized competition with good runs from the riders. I helped out as one of the judges and it was really interesting to see how the riders managed the terrain. Respect and gratulation to all, riders and organization crew!

After such a nice run yesterday decision was clear: We want MORE!!!!

So we did... little longer hike, little steeper, little better ;)

Blue bird and spring conditions right before New Year. Martin Zarfl, Andi Geisler and I took the chance for a nice hike somewhere in Tyrol ;) Some parts of this hike are pretty exposed but the line you earn when you make it to the peak is just insane. I like this place! More to come...

Can`t get enough

Conditions at the moment are just perfect, keeps me busy riding all day!! So much fun with my buddys hiking and riding different peaks. Hmmmm - where to go tomorrow?

The very BIG day!!

Back in the days... Have fun watching this VERY FIRST VIDEO we ever filmed. About 10 years ago, all filmed with max. 6 sec. clips with a Photocamera, 3 days shredding the park @ my local resort Seegrube. Seems like Zlu - a famous Photographer today ;) put all the effects he could find in this Video... Funny memories...
